We will check in at lunch time and enjoy lunch on the sun deck while sailing south (up the river).
In the afternoon, just before sunset, we will have our first village walk at El Higz, a small village on the east bank of the Nile. We will meet locals and get to know more about the local culture and tradition and we might visit a family in their home and join them for a homemade afternoon tea.
We will walk back to the Dahabya and have our dinner on deck.
Overnight El Higz
This morning you will enjoy breakfast while sailing to El Kab, the burial site of Ancient Egypt's most celebrated army generals.
A short drive will take us to the site where we will visit the rock cut tombs of Ahmose son of Ibana & the tomb of Paheri. The colorful murals & inscriptions on the walls tells the stories of these generals and how they managed to rid Egypt of the Hyksos occupiers.
Back on board the Dahabya for lunch.
Sailing towards the town of Edfu.
In the afternoon we will visit the best preserved Ancient Egyptain temple dedicated to the God Horus, the Falcon God. We will go to the nearby temple by the local horse-drawn carriages. After a guided tour to the temple, we will return back to our Dahabya for afternoon tea & dinner on board while sailing to our overnight stop, Fawaza, a quite Nile island away from the large cruise ships.
Overnight Fawaza.
This morning, after breakfast, we will have another village walk on a Nile island where we will see farmers hard at work and probably stop by and have a chat with them to know more about their lives & families.
Back no board by noon and sail towards Al Silsila. We will have lunch board.
This afternoon we will visit a site that is rarely visited by Nile cruises, the sandstone quarries of Silsila. In here, we will know the ancient methods of cutting stones & lowering them onto the ancient barges. The site has a small rock-cut shrine dedicated to the Gods by the famous warrior pharaoh Hoe-M-Heb.
At the completion of this tour, we will sail south to a quiet spot for the night.
Overnight Faris or Maniha.
After breakfast we will go on foot to the nearby temple of Kom Ombo. The dual temple is dedicated to both the Falcon God & the crocodile God. Kom Ombo was a famous site in the ancient days for both healing and trade. It was a commercial border point receiving the valuable hard wood from the south & Gold from the eastern desert.
At the completion of this tour, we will head back to our Dahabya & sail towards Aswan.
This afternoon is a perfect day to relax on deck and watch life along the Nile, fishermen, farmers, cattle grazing & kids swimming in the Nile.
Lunch & dinner will be served on board.
